Shea!!!

..and a Goodies head band I bought yesterday are my new best friends. I co-washed my hair very gently and didn't towel it dry. While still wet, I gently worked some Shea into my hair using my finger tips, making sure to make contact with my scalp (coz it tends to get very dry). I also added some leave-in conditioner for good measure. I like how it looks and can't wait to have a big ol' fro. Enjoy the pix :-) Styling ideas are welcome!

Close Up

Just thought I'd share a close up of my texture before putting any product in it...

Au naturale!

So I had a fierce mohawk for the longest time and everyone loved my hair. I'm addicted to change so after a while, the mohawk wasn't doing it for me and I decided to rock the natural look for a while. I grew out the mohawk then chopped off the relaxed hair. I will post some photos of my mohawk just so you can have an idea of what I looked like before. The chop was hard for me to adjust to, especially since my hair was so short so I decided to braid my hair while on vacation in Kenya (where I'm from). These looked good and it was nice not having to think about my hair but when they started looking raggedy, it was time to take 'em off. I just undid the braids 2 days ago and my hair was ridiculously tangled! I didn't comb it out but washed it and slept with Pantene (black) conditioner in my hair. When I got up, I rinsed it out and combed it out but it was still quite tangled. I wore some leave-in conditioner (isotope plus) and went to work. It did not look good at all! Last night I went to Duane Reade, bought an afro pick and combed it out thoroughly. Granted, I suffered quite some breakage but it looks much better! The picture is posted :) I also picked up some raw organic shea butter and I'm looking forward to using it this morning. I will post a picture to show the difference. Wish me luck! I am a novice at this :-/
